Welcome Home, Painter’s Sky

“Spring is Nature’s Way of Saying Let’s Party” ~ Robin Williams

Goemmer's Butte Near La Veta

It seems like I am constantly writing about the weather.  It’s not that I intend to bore whatever audience we have out there and it’s not that there is nothing exciting going on here at Vision-Finder Productions.  The weather quite simply is the most noteworthy breaking news here in Southern Colorado.  Have you ever seen something so beautiful that you just can’t look at it long enough or hard enough and for a fleeting moment crying seems to be an appropriate response?  Well that’s why I’m hung up on the weather lately, because it is drop dead gorgeous.  This week we welcomed the arrival of those billowing cloud formations, the return of the painter’s sky.

We are currently working on a couple of big video projects, both due in June that have everything to do with the beauty of this region of Colorado.  So we find ourselves out and about, capturing photographs and video takes on a daily basis.  We don’t go anywhere quickly, it seems as though we are compelled to stop just about every time we round a corner.  Being busy has slowed down our Local Tourist Colorado Video Series a bit, but rest assured we’ll be out finding more adventures to share real soon.  Until then, make sure you have checked out the video’s that have been completed.  I recently added a tab at the top of the web page to make them easier to find.  We also plan on sharing some of our current photographs once or twice a week in the interim, so keep on coming back.

As always, keep in mind that The Greatest Adventures Are Waiting In Your Own Backyard!

Out With The Old, In With The New

"Old Truck, New Day"

Back in the day, somebody brought home this truck and they must have beamed with pride as the Colorado Sun glimmered and danced on the factory fresh chrome.  Imagine the smell of the new upholstery and the feel of the transmission as it shifted from second to third.  In all likelihood, at some point in time a happy couple went out for a Sunday drive in this truck and as they noticed an old wooden wagon, abandoned and leaning at the side of the road and they thought to themselves, “back in the day”.

Local Tourist Colorado – San Luis, The Artist And Stations Of The Cross

Well, the snow is melting quickly and the Local Tourist Colorado film crew (both of us :)) took to the road on Easter Sunday and did this amazing piece on one of Southern Colorado’s Hidden Treasures.  Too many people drive right through San Luis without stopping to check out the historic town or stroll through the inspiring Stations of the Cross.  We highly recommend that you put this one on your bucket list, make it a day trip or even change your route between Denver and Santa Fe, you’ll be glad you did.  If you are as lucky as we were, you might even get to meet the incredible Sculptor and Artist, Huberto Maestas.  Don’t forget, The Greatest Adventures Are Waiting In Your Own Backyard!

We Love Comments and Questions!  If you enjoyed this post, please let us know by using the LIKE Button and by sharing it on Facebook and Twitter

Two Springs Forward, One Spring Back – Part II

A mildly depressed Charlie

Toyota Sequoia or Snow Fort?

Well, it happened again!  This time we were buried with just about four feet of very wet snow.  It’s been a few years since I’ve seen it pile up this deep and this fast.  Despite the longing for spring and summer, the moisture is a Godsend.  Just a little over a week ago, forest fires were having their way with the front-range of the Rockies just north of here giving a serious cause for concern.

And so it goes in the Spring, High Country Style.  As we watch a record snowfall melt at a record pace, we look beyond the mud to the wild flowers that will soon blanket the ground and we think about the places that we will go and the things that we will see.  This is Colorado, and The Greatest Adventures Are Waiting In Your Own Backyard.
